Memorial Day Weekend at the Ranch

We are back from a fabulous Memorial Day weekend in Eastern Washington. We were lucky enough to be hosted at The Ranch by some extended family for 3 days. It was just what we needed- a few days outside to disconnect from the world.

We felt like honey-mooners all over again in our own little cabin. It was perfect in every way- our own little bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette. We had little wood stove for heat, so each night about an hour before bed Greg would go build us a fire.

During the day we took off into the hills on John Deere Gators (similar to 4-wheelers) and checked out the scenery.

My little nephew even tagged along on some of the adventures- although he spent most of the time sleeping.

One of the highlights was seeing a huge black bear. It was as scared of us as we were of it!

We fed the horses that roam the hills behind the ranch and watched baby deer scurrying after their mothers.

It was the perfect weekend getaway! We only hit a tiny bit of traffic in Snoqualmie Pass which is a miracle for a three day weekend. Annette made sure we were never hungry with Pumpkin bars, Eggs Benedict, Pasta Salad, Burgers, Lasagna- you name it- we ate like kings.

I love that The Ranch is so ranchy. Everything has an authentic, rustic feel- which made us disconnect from the hustle of the everyday so quickly. On the drive home we got to talking about wanting a Ranch of our own some day :)
